Jan 21 - Course Introduction, Couesewrok, and Assessment

Today is the first day of class. Barry has introduced us to the house rules and course learning outcomes.

Besides, we have also formed the teams for the later presentation. My team's topic is "You are the boss!" which would be focusing on the preparation work and strategies to run a business. With reference to the previous website, there are lots of information available for us to learn more about landscape practice in reality.

At the very end of the class, polling was conducted on "Where do you intend to work on graduation?". Wonder if I would change my choice at the end of the course.

Feb 04 - Are you a Landscape Architect? + Earthasia Ltd. Sharing (part 1)

Today, we have the first group presenting the first topic, I learned a lot about the examination syllabus, what general topics would it be covering and what is the examination structure, for instance, if we have failed to pass part 2 of the exam, we might have to retake the first part next year in order to retake the second part again. This session have given me a general idea of the PPE and the preparation extent i should be getting before participating the examination.

Besides, in the second session of today's lecture, Earthasia Ltd. has been sharing us their company culture, workflow in the industry.

Besides, Ringo has introduced in details about who would be involved in each stage of the project. The Government Submissions are mandatory processes that involve landscape architects' input.

In addition, a Quality Site Supervision Plan (QSSP) has to be prepared and this is supervised by different parties including the Architects/ Designers; Resident Site Inspector; Horticulturist/ Arborist.

Feb 25 - Are you the boss + 1st quiz

Today is the our team (purple) presenting the topic "Are you the boss". Before our presentation, our group has came up with several times of internal group meeting to discuss about how we would like to arrange our presentation flow. And eternally, we have divided the presentation by topics and each topic incorporating with bosses/ practitioners from companies of different scales. We have interviewed 6 interviewees, and their sharing are informative and given us more perspectives in running a business in the landscape field.

Besides, the quiz has covered a variety of topics including Code of Conduct, Registered Landscape Architect, Professional Conducts, Works for Government Departments, Insurance, Business Plan, Hiring and Firing, and so on. Some of the questions are quite interesting to look at and we can refer back to the documents or regulation clauses as well.
