First Group Meeting
Before class, we read the syllabus and had a partial understanding of the content set by the course.
Brainstorm-add details- for the professional topics
formed initial direction of using real cases for presenting the term and related actions.
Colors are used to determine the groups and our respective themes.
set up a Google document and upload whatever they found useful for opening up our thought.
I formed a pink group with two classmates from Hong Kong and two from the mainland. We mainly studied the part of "awarding a project".

Second Group Meeting
Although we were the last group for a long time, we still had a group discussion in the holiday, made clear what we wanted to say under this topic, and drew our outline.

We drew lessons from the previous assignments of students. We probably need to make a half-hour video presentation and interact with the audience within the presentation time.

Orange group's presentation
In this class, the orange group gave an introduction, which was presented in the form of an interesting and impressive video.(Very clever way to interact)
In the second half of the class, we took a video tour of EarthAsia's offices.

Mini Quiz 1 Reflection
It is our first time taking the mini-quiz.
Sometimes we may not be so confident in making the choice because ‘all/many answers seem correct’. Another reason is that we have not been so well informed about the topics covered over the course.

0318
This class is the introduction of the Red Group, about the theme of "Winning a Project", and we visited the company Blend.

Third Group Meeting via Zoom
0319
This time we finally achieved a clear outline and distribution of tasks.
In our present topic, we divided it into 4 parts:
1.TENDER DOCUMENTATION
2.TENDERING METHODS
3.TENDERING PROCESS(mine)
4.FORMING CONSTRUCTION CONTRACT
We should not only comb through the tendering process in Hong Kong, but also compare it with the situation on the mainland.
In the analysis of bidding methods, we should also cite specific cases to demonstrate the advantages and disadvantages of bidding methods.(West Kowloon Cultural District)

Collection of tender documents for logs from Mainland companies

A mini-quiz

This test is very difficult and my score is very low. What impresses me most is this question.
The error in this question reveals that I am not clear about the task of landscape architect and client and how the relationship between the two should be formed.
This is a hole in professional understanding.

the 4th/5th/6th meeting&rehearsal
Client-contractor-subcontractor
For me, the most difficult part of this introduction is the two aspects. One is to introduce the differences of several bidding methods and their advantages and disadvantages, and the other is to clarify the differences and differences between contractors and subcontractors in the selective bidding method.
Why is there such a process of secondary selection bidding, and what kind of project is this bidding method applicable to?
Take the case of West Kowloon Cultural and Art District as an example. It is a very large comprehensive project. After the government conducts the bidding and finds the contractor, the contractor finds the subcontractor according to the classification of each subproject, so as to ensure that all departments can complete the project with the highest quality.
But such an approach can mean total stagnation when something goes wrong in the middle.

Group Pink Presentation& Office Tour to Urbis
The second session is a virtual visit to Urbis, including a presentation on the SENT project and an office tour. Actually, I learned quite a lot from the presentation.
·The landscape architects wanted complex, natural, subtle terrains that could blend into their surroundings, while the engineers decided that "simplicity is best".
They want as much air space as possible to maximize profits. So both designers and employers have to compromise.
·Environmental impact assessment, the project needs to be evaluated by multiple parties.
The City Council is responsible for the visual impact assessment, which is the most important part of the mitigation approach after the assessment is completed, outlining what should be achieved through landscape restoration.

A cosplay game
about the topic ‘Delivering a Project’, demonstrating by a Cosplay game. Groups are assigned to roles of client and its supervising officer, main contractor, contractor site manager, lead consultant (refers to a landscape architect in this scene), and sub-contractor (landscape planting team).
Virtual Site Visit to SENT Landfill
To develop the linkage between the knowledge in class and the practical world, Urbis (last course)introduced the project of SENT landfill (1994-2058) to us. They were responsible for operating and hand over to the landlord, and a landscape restoration and management plan was developed.

Occupational understanding and application
When we are given the chance to an interview, besides presenting our personality and experience to the interviewer, it is also important to prepare questions for the interviewer.
Our group's answer:
"First of all, I need to prepare a general expectation for the choice and planning of my career route for the career application, and then I will find the enterprises and positions I want to apply for. For the career application, I need to prepare my resume and portfolio, so that the company can know me quickly. Secondly, I need to prepare some professional skills, such as hand drawing and sketching, to deal with the tests that may occur in the interview process. Finally, I need to prepare some answers to interview questions and answers to ensure that I can have accurate and clear responses."

22-Apr
Peer review assessment
In the mutual evaluation form of the same group members, we need to score the contribution of each group member.
It was a very difficult time for us because we worked together as a team for a long time.
But I think it's a good time for us to reflect and evaluate our different roles in the team because each of us has different strengths and weaknesses.
